Meet the Founders

Co-Founders | Transitions in Moving

At the heart of Transitions In Moving are two women who know firsthand how emotional, complex, and deeply personal life transitions can be. Kelly Gower and Roselyn Rodriguez are more than just co-founders—they're neighbours, friends, and caregivers who built this business out of shared experience, deep compassion, and a desire to make a difficult process easier for others.

Kelly and Rose have lived in the same rural Peterborough-area neighbourhood for over eight years, bonding over backyard chats, school drop-offs, and a shared love of community. But what truly connected them was something deeper: their personal experiences walking alongside aging grandparents and extended family through life’s final transitions—from downsizing and moving into care, to the emotional task of sorting belongings after a passing.

These experiences stayed with them. They both knew how heavy the emotional and physical load could be—not just for families, but for the homes and staff supporting them.

“We just kept saying—this shouldn’t be this hard. There should be someone who can help.”

That “someone” didn’t exist. So they became that someone.

About Kelly

Born and raised in Buckhorn, Ontario, Kelly brings a strong blend of heart, corporate professionalism, and leadership to her work. As a mother of three grown children and a graduate with two business diplomas, including an Advanced Diploma in Human Resources Management, Kelly knows how to stay calm in chaos, manage complex logistics, and connect with people in moments that really matter.

Her deep empathy was shaped by growing up close to her grandparents, who played an active role in her life and whom she later supported through their transition into retirement living and beyond.  Kelly has spent several years working in one of Peterborough’s largest long-term care facilities, where she saw firsthand the many challenges that arise after a resident passes away. Grieving families were often emotionally overwhelmed and physically unprepared to pack and clear out a room—especially within tight timelines. At the same time, care home staff were frequently pulled from their essential duties to assist, and personal belongings left behind became a logistical burden for the facility. These combined pressures created stress for everyone involved and it quickly became clear assistance is needed.

These experiences deeply shaped Kelly’s perspective and became the foundation for her mission: to provide compassionate, hands-on support to families and care homes during one of life’s most difficult transitions.

Rose of Transitions In Moving | Peterborough, ON & Area

About Rose

Roselyn is a lifelong Peterborough resident and also a mother of 3 who brings a strong background in caregiving, organization, commerce, and community service. With an educational background in Social Science from the University of Ottawa and over 10 years of experience at General Electric (GE), Rose is known for her integrity, consistency, and tireless work ethic. She also has deep roots in caregiving—working directly with seniors and supporting her own loved ones through their final chapters in long-term care.

After the loss of close family members, Rose saw how grief, responsibility, and logistics can collide all at once— she saw just how overwhelming and unsupported these transitions are—for both families and care staff, leaving families overwhelmed and often isolated in their decision-making.

“This is personal work. Every time we walk into someone’s home or room, we carry that responsibility with care. We’re not just moving things—we’re honouring lives.”

Together, Kelly and Rose bring genuine empathy, real-life experience, and a deep commitment to dignity in everything they do. They created Transitions In Moving not just as a business, but as a service rooted in compassion—designed to support both families and the professionals who care for them.

If you’re a long-term care or retirement home, know this: we’re here to help. We understand your pressures, we’ve lived the emotional weight of these transitions, and we’re committed to being a reliable, compassionate partner—every step of the way.
